Description

Originally sold on October 13th 1963, by Truman Motors in El Cajon, California, to Lawrence E. Finnin, this vehicle has a story as captivating as its classic design. Finnin, with a discerning eye for detail, insisted on adding the striking chrome wheels, a subtle enhancement that complemented the car’s already iconic look. This 356 B remained in Finnin’s possession until 2008, during which time it became an extraordinary time capsule. In 1968, with just five years of driving under its belt, the car was parked in Finnin’s backyard after the engine was taken out to fix a minor oil leak, a task that astonishingly, was never completed. For the next 40 years, this Porsche 356 sat undisturbed in his garage, a hidden gem awaiting re-discovery. That discovery came when leading Porsche specialist Skip Shirley of San Diego unearthed the car, literally cutting down a tree to free it from its long hibernation. What he found was a perfectly preserved specimen of Porsche engineering, untouched by time, with all its original panels, including matching stamped hood, trunk, and doors. This car had never been in an accident and remained completely rust-free, a very rare and valuable find. Shirley undertook an exacting restoration, staying true to the car’s originality at every turn. Not a single reproduction part was used; all components were either original to the car, genuine Porsche, or NOS. The car was freshly repainted in its original Oslo Blue, a hue that highlights its flawless panel fit and even gaps, which is so vital to obtain when duplicating the exact build quality of these cars from when they were new. The wonderfully contrasting red interior is pristine and totally authentic, and the engine compartment is beautifully finished with all correct factory finishes and details. The original engine and transmission were rebuilt, with the engine upgraded internally to Super specs so taking it from 60 BHP to 75 BHP. This subtle modification gives the car a bit more power w
